Ingredients

Scale

Base and Binding

  • 100 g digestive cookies or graham crackers, crushed
  • 50 g butter, melted
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

Chocolate and Butterscotch Layers

  • 100 g dark chocolate chips
  • 100 g milk chocolate chips
  • 100 g white chocolate chips
  • 100 g butterscotch chips

Nuts and Coconut

  • 110 g chopped walnuts
  • 80 g shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make for easy removal of bars.
  2. Melt Butter and Create Base: Melt 50 g of butter and pour it evenly into the bottom of the lined baking dish, coating it fully. This will help the crust stick and add richness.
  3. Crush and Press Cookies: Crush 100 g of digestive cookies or graham crackers until they resemble coarse crumbs. Press them evenly over the melted butter in the bottom of the pan to form the base layer.
  4. Layer Chocolate and Butterscotch Chips: Evenly sprinkle the dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips over the cookie crust, creating colorful and flavorful layers.
  5. Add Nuts and Coconut: Sprinkle 110 g of chopped walnuts and 80 g of shredded coconut evenly over the chocolate and butterscotch layer for texture and nutty flavor.
  6. Pour Condensed Milk: Slowly pour the entire can (14 oz) of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the layered ingredients, allowing it to seep into the crevices and bind the bars together during baking.
  7. Bake the Bars: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Cool and Slice: Remove from oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan to set. Once cooled, lift the parchment paper out and slice into squares for serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider toasting the shredded coconut before adding it to the layers.
  • You can swap out walnuts for pecans if preferred.
  • Ensure bars are fully cooled before slicing to maintain their shape and texture.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
