Delicious and creamy Nutella truffles made with crushed Oreo Thins, cream cheese, and smooth Nutella, coated in rich melted milk chocolate and garnished with chocolate sprinkles. These bite-sized treats are perfect for parties, gifts, or a decadent homemade dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Mixture

  • 25 Oreo Thins cookies (half of a 13.1 oz. package)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • ⅔ cup Nutella
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Chocolate Coating & Garnish

  • 10 ounces milk chocolate melting wafers (Ghirardelli brand recommended)
  • Chocolate sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Tray: Line a small rimmed baking tray with parchment paper and set aside to hold the truffles once formed.
  2. Crush Oreo Cookies: Place the Oreo Thins cookies into a food processor and pulse for 1-2 minutes until very fine cookie crumbs are formed.
  3. Mix Truffle Ingredients: Add cream cheese, Nutella, and salt to the cookie crumbs in the food processor. Pulse for another 1-2 minutes until the mixture forms a smooth, combined ball.
  4. Chill Mixture: Remove the bowl and blade from the processor, cover the nutella truffle mixture, and refrigerate for 30-45 minutes until firm enough to shape.
  5. Form Truffle Balls: Using a 1½ inch or tablespoon-sized cookie scoop, scoop mixture and roll into balls with your hands. Place the balls onto the prepared baking tray.
  6. Chill Truffles: Refrigerate the tray of truffle balls for 1 to 1½ hours, or until they are firm and hold their shape well.
  7. Melt Chocolate: Melt the milk chocolate wafers in a small bowl following package instructions, ensuring the chocolate is smooth and ready for dipping.
  8. Dip Truffles: Using a large fork, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, coating it evenly. Lift out to allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  9. Garnish and Set: Place the coated truffle back onto the parchment-lined tray and sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles. Repeat for all truffles. Optionally, refrigerate for 5-10 minutes to harden the chocolate coating or allow to set at room temperature.

Notes

  • Make sure cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing and smoother consistency.
  • You can swap milk chocolate wafers with dark or white chocolate according to preference.
  • Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For an extra festive touch, try rolling the truffles in crushed nuts or cocoa powder instead of chocolate sprinkles.
  • Use a cookie scoop for uniform size to ensure even chilling and coating.
  • Ensure melted chocolate is not too hot when dipping to avoid melting the truffle centers.
