Cereals
- 3 cups Fruity Pebbles cereal (Use fresh cereal for best flavor.)
- 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Wet Ingredients
- 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows (Mini marshmallows can also be used.)
- 3 tablespoons butter (Vegan butter can be substituted if needed.)
Optional Toppings
- Sprinkles to taste (colorful sprinkles for decoration)
- Preparation: Grease a 9×13 inch pan lightly with butter or non-stick spray to prepare for pressing the mixture later.
- Melt Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat until fully liquefied, making sure not to burn it.
- Melt Marshmallows: Add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir continuously over low heat until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Mix Cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat. Immediately add the Fruity Pebbles and Rice Krispies cereals to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir gently but thoroughly to coat all the cereal evenly without crushing them.
- Press Into Pan: Pour the cereal mixture into the greased 9×13 inch pan. Using a spatula or wax paper, press the mixture firmly and evenly to create a compact layer.
- Cool and Set: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature until fully set, about 15-20 minutes, so they hold their shape when cut.
- Add Sprinkles: If desired, sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top for decoration either immediately before the mixture fully sets or lightly press them into the surface after pressing the mixture.
- Cut and Serve: Once completely set, cut into squares or bars and serve.
Notes
- Use fresh Fruity Pebbles cereal for the best flavor and crunch.
- Press the mixture gently but firmly; pressing too hard may crush the cereal.
- For a vegan version, substitute vegan butter and ensure marshmallows are vegan-friendly.
- Add sprinkles for fun decoration but they are optional.
- Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best texture.
