Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • ½ lbs Boneless, skinless chicken, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoon Cornstarch, for coating
  • ½ teaspoon Salt, to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil, for cooking

Sauce

  • 6 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ⅓ cup Honey
  • 2 tablespoon Soy sauce (use tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoon Green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken cubes dry with paper towels. Toss them in cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated, ensuring a crispy exterior when cooked.
  2. Heat the oil: Warm olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to ensure it’s hot enough to sear the chicken properly.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add the chicken pieces in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until they turn golden brown and are cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Sauté garlic: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Make the sauce: Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and optional red pepper flakes. Let the mixture simmer gently for 1-2 minutes to blend the flavors.
  6. Combine chicken and sauce: Return the cooked chicken bites to the skillet. Toss them thoroughly to coat with the thickening sauce evenly.
  7. Thicken the sauce: Allow the sauce to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until it thickens and clings to the chicken bites. Remove from heat once the desired consistency is reached.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds over the chicken bites. Serve hot over your choice of rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For gluten-free option, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
  • You can adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
  • Cooking chicken in batches prevents steaming and ensures a crispy crust.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor; garlic powder will not work as well.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
