Ingredients

Scale

Biscuits

  • 2 cans (16.3 oz each) refrigerated biscuit dough

Sausage

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage

Gravy

  • 2 cups sausage gravy (homemade or store-bought)

Eggs

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until fully browned and cooked through, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Mix eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Layer the casserole: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place half of the biscuit dough pieces evenly in the bottom of the dish. Layer the cooked sausage evenly over the biscuits, then pour half of the sausage gravy over the sausage. Repeat the layers with the remaining biscuit dough pieces and gravy.
  4. Add the eggs: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered ingredients in the casserole dish, allowing it to soak through.
  5. Bake the casserole: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the biscuits are cooked through and lightly golden on top.
  6. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before cutting into squares and serving.

  • Use low-fat sausage or turkey sausage to reduce fat content.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle shredded cheese over the top before baking.
